Turning Off a Noisy External Hard Drive Automatically

January 12, 2020 teacherdan

Introduction

I love a good quest! Each of these posts begins with an exploration of a problem followed by the creation of a specific objective that can usually be achieved with some of kind of tool, process, or algorithm. Sometimes the components of the solution already exist; sometimes I need to create them myself. Either way, I’ll provide a narrative of the hardware, software, tricks, challenges, and discoveries involved in figuring it all out. Many posts also conclude with a “takeaway”—perhaps a bit of code or some other tidbit—that readers can use for their own projects.
